During Opera Europa's Autumn Conference at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, a dedicated session on online fundraising and crowdfunding explored how opera and dance institutions can strengthen their donor engagement and fundraising strategies in the digital age.
Moderated by Edilia Gänz, our Director, the discussion featured Etienne Eichenberger, Chairman of the Board of the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation, alongside fundraising experts from leading European opera houses Camille Claverie Li, Director of Philanthropy and Private Events at the Opéra Comique in Paris and Rosa Haker Institutional Fundraising Manager at Dutch National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam.
Together, they shared valuable insights on the donor journey. The session delved into the key drivers of successful fundraising: building trust and transparency, communicating authentic impact, and creating accessible pathways for international giving through Transnational Giving Europe. Participants also discussed the evolving trends in digital philanthropy, strategies for launching effective crowdfunding campaigns, and the long-term benefits of community-based support for the performing arts.
